Dimitris Psathas, 27, is an agronomist cultivating table olives at Nea Tenedos, Chalkidiki and also a certified olive oil taster. He is participating in the "New Agriculture for a New Generation" program, in the "Adopting Small Family Farms" training program, which is implemented by the American Farm School.
Since he was young, Dimitris was working in the small family estate and is now committed to developing it further by implementing his business ideas. He aims at certifying organically their olive grove and he has created a branding for his “Klēa premium goods” products, combining quality with taste and history.
He decided to take part in the program in order to gain support at the field from the specialized agronomists who visit the olive grove and provide him with personalized advice and guidance. Although he is an agronomist himself, he believes that acquiring knowledge is a continuous journey and that growers must keep up with technology and adopt modern cultivation models.
As Dimitris says, "The New Agriculture for New Generation” Program is really what a young person in the agri-food sector, needs. In addition to the cultivation, the program has also helped me a lot in the entrepreneurial aspect of my business by giving me tools to use in my efforts to create identity and added value for my products."
